De Graaf Bakeries - Who we are and what we do

Owner Wouter de Graaf, the fourth generation of a baker’s family, started his own patisserie bakery back in 1990. The first almond paste cookies appealed to artisanal bakers and the assortment soon grew rapidly.

Relieving pressure through our high level of service

We support you in the selection of high-quality raw materials and produce the most appetising snacks with them. And in functional packaging to attractive presentation on shelves. In our training facilities or on site, we train your shop employees in defrosting and the final baking process for bake-off snacks. Everything for that freshly-baked smell and flavour sensation!

In the centre of Spakenburg
Aart de Graaf, a fisherman on the IJsselmeer got seasick and went to look for work ashore. He opened a small village bakery in the centre of Spakenburg.

Village bakery 'de Graaf'

The next two de Graaf generations expand the village bakery into an industrial bakery with customers from all over The Netherlands.

Oma’s cake (Grandma's cake)

1955/1956 Opening of the new bakery in Spakenburg. Oma's cake is one of the most famous brands.

Foundation of 'Banketbakkerij Wouter de Graaf'
Wouter de Graaf, by now the fourth generation, opens a small patisserie shop in Spakenburg, where he bakes fresh almond paste cookies for artisan bakers. The assortment is later expanded to include apple cookies, butter cake slices and coconut macaroons.

As a result of the growth, a new modern industrial bakery is opened up in Spakenburg.

Wouter de Graaf is one of the first in the Netherlands to produce bake-off products.

Mola
For the production and sale of flaky pastry products, a cooperation is set up with the family-run Mola company.

Opening of the refrigerated warehouse
To allow the company to grow, we built a new distribution center with office space at the Metaalweg in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. There is room for about 4,000 pallets here.

De Graaf Bakeries Hoogeveen
2013
Acquisition of 'Bakkersland' in Hoogeveen
The acquisition of the frozen division of Bakkersland resulted in a new production location in Hoogeveen. Our range expanded with more than 200 products.

Name change
Banketbakkerij Wouter de Graaf is renamed De Graaf Bakeries. This also involves a new branding.

Our bakers developed the first fresh cookies in Europe with the favorite Mars brands TWIX®, M&M's® and SNICKERS®.
